On October 5, 2010 Vonda Edmonds, an employee of the Internal Revenue Service was indicted by an Ohio Grand Jury on one count of embezzlement and theft. According to the indictment, Edmonds embezzled taxpayers’ payments to the IRS in the amount of $3,915.04 for a period of about 1 month (from September 27, 2005 through October 27, 2005). Edmonds is alleged to have stolen the money by kiting checks. Although the indictment doesn’t describe the exact kiting scheme, typically kiting involves changing the amount of a check written by another person.
